The 2025 IDEM Annual Report [PDF] is now available. The report highlights significant environmental progress made throughout Indiana, outlining achievements in air quality, land protection, water resources, and key performance indicators that reflect the agency’s commitment to safeguarding Hoosiers and the environment. The report also provides an overview of major initiatives, permitting performance, statewide monitoring efforts, and the work of IDEM’s nearly 800 employees who serve communities across all 92 counties.
Indiana counties, municipalities, solid waste management districts, universities, schools, and nonprofit organizations are eligible to submit a Community Recycling Grant Program (CRGP) application to request $1,000–$100,000 in funding. grant funding for recycling and household hazardous waste (HHW) collection and disposal. The CRGP is accepting applications from May 18 through June 26, 2026. Additional information is available on our Community Recycling Grant Program page.
Additional information on grant opportunities through the Recycling Market Development Program will be available closer to June. IDEM will begin accepting grant proposals beginning June 17.
The Nonpoint Source Program is now accepting proposals for FY2027 Clean Water Act Section 319 grants. Eligible applicants include local governments, nonprofit organizations, universities, and other groups committed to restoring and protecting Indiana’s waterways. Projects may focus on watershed planning, best management practice (BMP) implementation, education and outreach, or other innovative approaches to reducing nonpoint source pollution. Senate Enrolled Act 459 mandates cybersecurity measures for certain water and wastewater facilities. Remember to conduct your first vulnerability assessment and submit a certification by December 31, 2026. See the Cybersecurity for Water/Wastewater Facilities page for more details.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is seeking public input on the requirements for the state licenses it regulates. In accordance with Executive Order 25-18, all Indiana state agencies must review the occupational licenses and regulations within their respective jurisdictions.

Please submit any comments to Efficiency@idem.IN.gov by June 30, 2026. IDEM will review all feedback for potential rule amendments or recommendations to the General Assembly for statutory changes.
