[ISP] Jefferson County Man Facing Burglary Charges

Entry Description
Jefferson County:  Yesterday afternoon Trooper Nate Adams and troopers from the Indiana State Police Post in Sellersburg went to a residence in Jeffersonville and arrested 23 year old Zachary Ryan Basham of Lexington, IN on a preliminary charge of Burglary (Class B Felony).  The arrest was the result of an investigation that began on December 9, 2011 when Deputy Andrew Allen of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence on S.R. 62 in Jefferson County in reference to a burglary. 

Through the exchange of information and cooperation between Tpr. Adams and Deputy Allen, information came forth indicating some of the property stolen in the burglary may have been pawned in Louisville, KY.  Tpr. Adams and Sgt. Paul Adams of the Indiana State Police went to a pawn shop in Louisville and located jewelry they believed was taken in the burglary.  Photographs were taken of the property and information on the individual who pawned the jewelry was also obtained.  The officers then showed the photographs of the jewelry to the victim who identified the property.  Based on this information, Basham was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail where he is being held on a charge of Burglary.  Tpr. Adams commented, “Because of the cooperation and sharing of information between the Indiana State Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, this case has been solved and an arrest made.”

Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
