Entry Description
Putnam County---This afternoon at approximately 3:36PM, Indiana State Police Troopers and Putnam County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 37 mile marker.
Preliminary investigation revealed, for an unknown reason, a green 1997 Ford Thunderbird driven by 26 year old Dawn Henderson of Terre Haute, IN. failed to slow properly and struck the rear of a tractor-trailer combination belonging to Prime Inc. The driver of the tractor was Michael A. Bratcher, age 47, of Beaumont, California. Traffic was moving in the area and not slowed.
Dawn Henderson was transported to Putnam County Hospital by Putnam County Operation Life for facial injuries. Neither her passenger nor the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured. Henderson was cited for Speed too Fast to Avoid a Collision.
I-70 remained open, but traffic was slowed in the area for nearly 60 minutes for crash investigation and cleanup.
ISP First Sergeant Matt Mischler investigated the crash. Mischler was assisted by ISP Sergeants Cory Robinson and Jared Nicoson, Troopers Mike Taylor and Troy Cobb, and the Cloverdale Township Fire Department.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
