Entry Description
INDOT Truck Drivers
Covering All Routes
GREENFIELD, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation will have a full callout of snow plow trucks this afternoon as winter weather approaches. A second shift is already scheduled to continue operations at midnight as snow and ice is expected through Friday evening and into Saturday morning.
A full callout of drivers in the Greenfield District consists of 179 snow routes:
- 68 drivers in the Indianapolis subdistrict
- 27 drivers in the Greenfield subdistrict
- 28 drivers in the Cambridge City subdistrict
- 26 drivers in the Tipton subdistrict
- 30 drivers in the Albany subdistrict
These drivers report to 21 units throughout the district and are responsible for more than 5,300 lane miles and nearly 1,100 bridges on all state roads, US routes and interstate highways.
Areas to the north of the district are expected to receive inches of snow accumulation, and areas further south are expected to see a wintry mix and freezing rain. It is important that all drivers plan ahead for additional commute time, maintain a safe speed and safe following distance, and be alert of other drivers and changing road conditions. To check highway conditions before departing, visit www.TrafficWise.in.gov or www.indot.in.gov for links to INDOT news and information.
