Entry Description
Vigo County—This afternoon at 1:29PM, Indiana State Police troopers and Vigo County emergency agencies responded to a two-vehicle crash on US 41 at Raymond Drive. Three persons were injured, but none appeared to be life-threatening.
Preliminary investigation revealed a white, 2010 Honda Accord, driven by Karen E. Eldridge, age 69, of Farmersburg, IN. was southbound on US 41 nearing Raymond Drive. Northbound on US 41 was a blue, 2006, Chevrolet, Suburban, driven by Barbara L. Partin, age 47, of West Terre Haute, IN. The Partin vehicle then made a left turn onto Raymond Drive and was struck on the passenger side by the Eldridge vehicle. Witnesses reported the Eldridge vehicle had failed to stop for a red light. Seatbelts were in use.
A passenger in the Partin vehicle, Gene Partin, age 57, of West Terre Haute, IN. was pinned in the vehicle for approximately 25 minutes and extricated by the Honey Creek Township Fire/Rescue Department. Barbara and Gene Partin, husband and wife, were transported to Terre Haute Union Hospital for treatment by Trans Care Ambulance Service. Mrs. Partin was treated for a lower right leg injury and Mr. Partin was treated for head and neck injuries.
Karen Eldridge suffered what appeared to be minor facial injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Eldridge was cited for Disregarding an Automatic Signal and released.
The crash was investigated by ISP Senior Trooper Jason Schoffstall. He was assisted by ISP Sergeant Joe Watts, Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Bob Bartlett, Honey Creek Township Fire/Rescue, and Trans Care Ambulance Service.
Traffic was slowed in the area for approximately 40 minutes for crash investigation and clean-up.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
