Goshen, Elkhart and South Bend firefighters assist in Southern Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS — Ten firefighters from departments in Goshen, Elkhart and South Bend have been deployed to help relieve southern Indiana firefighters who have been working since the March 2 tornado hit.
The firefighters have been deployed through Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) District 2 Response Task Force. IDHS district 2 includes St. Joseph, Elkhart, Starke, Marshall, Kosciusko, Pulaski and Fulton counties.
Each IDHS district response task forces is comprised of volunteer emergency responders who dedicate their free time to support other emergency response agencies around the state. When a disaster stretches beyond the scope of a local emergency response agency, local officials can ask the IDHS task forces for support. |
