Entry Description
White County- Early this morning, Tuesday, March 13th, the White County Sheriff’s Department responded to a welfare check at a residence that resulted in shots fired at them.
At approximately 2:46 a.m., two White County Sheriff Deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence in a subdivision located off West Shafer Drive at 4548 East Fairway Court, Monticello.
Shortly after arriving, around 3:06 a.m., the male occupant of the residence, identified as Christian Lee Condo, 32, fired shots out of the front window at the deputies. NO ONE WAS HIT OR INJURED. The deputies retreated and a perimeter was set up around the residence.
Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded. The Indiana State Police Hostage Negotiators, alongside with White County Sheriff’s Hostage Negotiator secured the safe release of children from the residence at approximately 4:33 a.m. Their ages are fifteen, six, four and one years-old. They were not injured.
The welfare check was in response to the male occupant making threats to harm himself to his estranged wife, who did not live at the residence and works overnight at a local hospital; they have joint custody of the children.
Condo surrendered peacefully shortly after 9:30 a.m. He will be taken to White County Jail where he will be charged. All questions about Condo’s charges should be directed to White County Prosecutor Bob Guy at 574-583-5120.
