State Team Supported Tornado Response and Recovery Efforts in Southern Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS – On March 2, 17 state personnel with the Indiana Incident Management Assistance Team (IMAT) deployed to Clark and surrounding counties to begin incident management coordination for the various state and local agencies involved in response efforts to the devastating tornadoes in Southern Indiana.
The team coordinated debris management, damage assessment and utility restoration efforts in the affected areas while also assisting in operating the Clark County EOC.
The Indiana Incident Management Assistance Team is comprised of state emergency management professionals who dedicate their time to support other emergency response agencies around the state. When a disaster stretches beyond the scope of a local emergency response agency, local officials can ask the Indiana IMAT for support.
Members of the deployed Indiana IMAT were from the following agencies and organizations: Indiana Department of Correction, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana Department of Labor, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Indiana Office of Technology, Integrated Public Safety Commission, and Indiana University.
For more information about the Indiana Incident Management Assistance Team, please contact Debbi Fletcher at (317) 414-7082 or dpfletch@iu.edu or Don Watson at (317) 670-3180 or DonWatson@dhs.IN.gov.
