Entry Description
Vigo County—At 2:00 PM, Indiana State Police Troopers and Terre Haute City Police Officers descended upon the Greyhound Bus terminal in downtown Terre Haute awaiting the arrival of a Greyhound Bus from Indianapolis. The officers received information from the US Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department that a man wanted in Indianapolis was allegedly on a bus bound for the St. Louis area.
Within minutes, the bus arrived and troopers boarded the bus and located the wanted man sitting alone in the rear. Delarian Lewis, age 33, of Indianapolis, IN, was taken into custody without incident. Lewis was wanted by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for Aggravated Battery, Class B felony.
Troopers transported Lewis to the Vigo County Jail where he is awaiting the arrival of IMPD officers for transfer to the Marion County Jail.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is conducting the criminal investigation related to Delarian Lewis. The only involvement of the Indiana State Police and Terre Haute Police Department was the custodial arrest at the bus station. Any questions concerning the investigation should be directed to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police.
No other information will be released by the Indiana State Police.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
