Indianapolis Traffic Restrictions Update 

INDIANAPOLIS – Drivers can learn the locations of work zones before departing by calling INDOT’s TrafficWise at 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or online at  INDOT reminds drivers to follow posted speed limits, maintain a safe following distance, use caution and remain aware of workers and other drivers when traveling through a work zone.

INSIDE 465: 

  • The entrance ramp to eastbound I-70 accessed from southbound Meridian St. / Madison Ave. and McCarty Street reopened Thursday, March 29 at 4 p.m.


Allisonville Road at I-465

  • I-465 eastbound ramp to Allisonville Road (exit 35) will have overnight lane restrictions on Friday, March 30 as half of the ramp will be closed to install temporary drainage.


  • Allisonville Road—north and south of the I-465 bridge—and 86th Street/Center Run will have restrictions between Monday, April 2 and Friday, April 6 for center curb removal, pavement replacement and shoulder widening.


  • Keystone Avenue and 86th Street will have restrictions between Friday, March 30 and Thursday, April 5 for curb removal, milling, paving and striping operations.  Crews are working to facilitate increased traffic flow in anticipation of the Allisonville Road bridge closure. 


US 31 Hamilton County

  • US 31 at SR 38 is reduced to one lane in each direction.  Southbound traffic is redirected to share the east side of the roadway with northbound traffic.  Northbound entrance and exit ramps are open.  Southbound entrance and exit ramps are closed.


  • US 31 northbound is shifted to the right onto temporary pavement between the Monon Trail and 151st Street.  Two through lanes with turn lanes are maintained in each direction.  US 31 northbound will have short-term stoppages overnight (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) from Monday, April 9 to Friday, April 13 for demolition of the southbound Keystone Parkway bridge.


  • US 31 southbound to Keystone Parkway southbound is expected to close on April 9 for 90 days.  US 31 southbound will be redirected to share the east side of the roadway with northbound traffic after the demolition of the Keystone Parkway bridge.  The existing southbound roadway will be closed as reconstruction begins.


  • Clay Terrace Boulevard and Rangeline Road at US 31 will be shifted to temporary pavement on April 6 as construction begins on a ramp from US 31 southbound to Clay Terrace Boulevard and a bridge over Rangeline Road.  One lane of traffic will be open in each direction and a new intersection with US 31 will be used.  Access to US 31 from Circle Drive will be closed and the access road to Clay Terrace Boulevard will be opened.



  • I-70 in both directions from Post Road (exit 91) to just east of Mt. Comfort Road (exit 96) has shifting work zone traffic patterns with median crossovers.  Two lanes of traffic remain open in both directions. 


  • I-465 northbound will have a double left lane restriction between the US 136/Crawfordsville Road overpass and the entrance ramp from westbound Crawfordsville Road to northbound I-465 on Thursday, April 5 at 9 p.m. to Friday, April 6 at 5a.m. Crews will connect drainage pipe during the closure.


  • US 40/Washington Street eastbound at I-465 will have single left lane restrictions on Tuesday, April 3 to Friday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for work in the median.


  • US 40/Washington Street eastbound will have alternating lane closures on Saturday, April 7 for pavement widening and striping operations to install crossovers between High School Road and Glen Arms Road.



  • US 31 southbound will have lane restrictions between Epler and Edgewood Avenues on Monday, April 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
