Delaware County – This morning shortly before 7:30 a.m. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Trooper Kyle West was on a traffic stop around the 50 mile marker on I-69 when several motorists stopped and notified him of seeing a north bound pickup truck drive across the median and off the south side of the interstate around the 47 mile marker.

Several troopers responded to the area, found about 100 feet of interstate fence down on the south bound side, but no vehicle. Around 8 a.m. a Gaston City Unit found a pickup crashed into tree in a field in the area of county roads 1000 West and 950 North, approximately 9/10ths of a mile from the interstate.

Killed was Brian Reum, age 43, of Muncie.  It is unknown why the white Ford F-150 drove off the interstate and across at least two fields.  An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow as the crash investigation continues.  Trooper West was assisted at the scene by Troopers Coley McCutcheon and Dave Preston, CVED Trooper Jeremy Woods, Gaston City Police, Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Delaware County Coroner and the Salem Township Fire Department.
