Entry Description
Traffic Switch Expected at
US 40/Washington St.
On the West Side
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will restrict traffic lanes on US 40/Washington Street this week in advance of a traffic switch expected this weekend.
The right lane of eastbound US 40/Washington Street will have daytime restrictions (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) between High School Road and Glen Arm Road from Tuesday, April 3 and Wednesday, April 4. Temporary pavement is being placed to widen the roadway to accommodate the shifting of traffic on Saturday, April 7.
US 40/Washington Street will have alternating lane restrictions throughout the day Saturday as temporary striping and crossovers are initiated to place both directions of traffic on the south side of the roadway. Both eastbound and westbound traffic will have two lanes in each direction after Saturday’s restrictions. This traffic configuration is expected to last about six weeks as permanent westbound lanes are constructed.
Eastbound US 40/Washington Street will also have a daytime (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) left lane restriction at the I-465 interchange area on Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5 for construction of a pedestrian promenade in the median.
To learn of highway restrictions and work zone locations before departing, visit www.TrafficWise.in.gov or call 1-800-261-ROAD (7623). For the latest INDOT news and information, visit www.INDOT.in.gov. |
