Entry Description
Jackson County: A three vehicle crash this morning left one driver seriously injured. According to Senior Trooper Stephen Wheeles, at approximately 8:05 this morning a 2001 Buick driven by 51 year old Timothy D. Bowling of Austin, IN was southbound on I-65 near the 39.5 mile marker and was passing a 2000 International semi tractor trailer driven by 25 year old Brandon Emery of Greensburg, IN. For unknown reasons, the 2001 Buick and the International collided causing the 2001 Buick to cross the median into the northbound lanes of I-65 where it was struck broadside on the passenger side by a 2000 Volvo semi tractor trailer rig driven by 38 year old Marcin Kolodziejczyk of River Grove, IL. During the collision on the northbound side of I-65, Bowling was ejected from his vehicle and became entrapped underneath it. He was transported to Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour by Jackson County EMS and later transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with serious injuries. His injury status at this time is unknown. It is believed Bowling was not wearing his seat belt. Neither of the other two drivers suffered injury. The northbound lanes of I-65 were shut down for approximately one hour while police and emergency personnel investigated the crash.
S/Tpr. Wheeles was assisted at the scene by numerous other troopers and ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Inspectors, Jackson County EMS, and the Vernon Township Fire Department. |
