| [ISP] Car Fire Results in Death |

Entry Description
Jackson County: At approximately 2:59 a.m. today troopers responded to a report of a car fire at the intersection of C.R. 700N and C.R. 1075E in Jackson County. After firefighters extinguished the blaze they discovered a body inside the vehicle and there was no evidence the vehicle had been involved in a crash. Since that time investigators have been working to solve the mystery of this incident.
The preliminary autopsy results indicated the victim, 23 year old Tabitha Brock of Seymour, was already deceased before the car fire. As the investigation progressed, investigators developed a suspect and late this afternoon arrested 29 year old Gerald Eugene Combs, Jr. of Seymour on charges of Murder, Arson, and Neglect of a Dependent. He is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail without bond.
State police investigators were provided valuable assistance in this investigation by Seymour Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court of law. |
