Entry Description
Fort Wayne, IN—A Fort Wayne man is behind bars this afternoon, accused of being in possession of more than a pound and a half of marijuana after he was stopped for driving 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit.
According to Master Trooper Brad Shultz, at approximately 9:30 this morning, he observed a black Acura TL traveling westbound on US 30 near Webster Road at an extremely high rate of speed. Using his radar, he determined the vehicle to be traveling at 90 miles per hour in the posted 60 mile per hour zone.
During the subsequent traffic stop, Shultz smelled the odor of raw marijuana and when he deployed his K-9 partner Gunnar, his suspicions were confirmed by Gunnar’s nose. During a search of the vehicle’s trunk, a duffle bag was located that had two separately wrapped packages containing just more than one and a half pounds of marijuana. The driver, Shawn Jeffrey Swanson, 36 from Fort Wayne was then taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail by Master Trooper Dan Taylor and was being held on a $2,500 bond.
