| [ISP] Two Injured in One Vehicle Crash |

Entry Description
Jackson County: On Thursday evening, May 24 a one vehicle crash sent two to the hospital. According to Trooper Seth Davidson, at approximately 9:55 p.m. a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 32 year old John W. Gaffney, Jr. of Seymour was northbound on S.R. 11 near CR 200 North when he said he swerved to avoid a coyote crossing the highway. He lost control of the Blazer then ran off the roadway and struck a sign, then ran through a ditch causing the vehicle to go airborne after which it struck a utility pole then a parked tractor in a field. When going through the ditch, Tpr. Davidson said a passenger in the vehicle, 28 year old Marcia D. Gaffney of Seymour was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour and later transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with head injuries. According to Tpr. Davidson, she was alert and conscious at the scene. Also injured was five year old Claira J. Stout of Seymour. She was transported to Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour with abdominal and head injuries however she was reportedly alert and conscious at the scene as well. John Gaffney and another passenger, five year old Jayden P. Stout (twin of Claira Stout) were uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation. Tpr. Davidson was assisted at the scene by Seymour Police Department and Jackson-Washington Township Fire Department. |
