Indianapolis, IN- Today at approximately 12:00 p.m., Indiana State Troopers was dispatched to the Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1201 East 38th Street, Indianapolis, to investigate the report of children left alone in a vehicle.

The Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post received a call from the fairground security stating they had been made aware of two children alone in a car in the parking lot. Fairground security said a citizen had observed the children and alerted them. A public address page was made throughout the building where a job fair was being held however no one had answered the page.

When troopers arrived they found two female children, ages nine and one, alone in a 1999 Buick with the windows down. Troopers waited with the children until their mother, Charise N. Jones, 29, of Indianapolis arrived from attending the job fair at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Troopers reported that Jones was not certain how long she had left the children alone in the vehicle while she attended the job fair.

Charise Jones was arrested and charged with two counts of Neglect of a Dependent, Class D Felony. She was transported and incarcerated at the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center.

The children were released to an adult male cousin of Jones.
