[ISP] Former Church Youth Leader Arrested for Forgery and Theft

Entry Description
Bartholomew County: A former church youth leader was arrested today and is facing four felony counts.  The arrest was the result of an investigation which began in January when there was a report of misappropriations and missing funds in the church’s youth account.  During the investigation, Det. Roger Drew learned that 53 year old Rick R. Elliott of Hope had been the youth leader at the Hope Baptist Church from the fall of 2008 through February 2011.  During this period of time the investigation revealed Elliott allegedly took approximately $30,000 from the account to pay personal debt.  Today Det. Drew made arrangements with Elliott to turn himself in at the Bartholomew County Jail where Det. Drew read the warrant charging him with two counts of Forgery (Class C Felony) and two counts of Theft (Class D Felony).  Elliott is now incarcerated at the Bartholomew County Jail with bond set at $40,000.  Det. Drew was assisted by Det. Jan Graves and M/Tpr. David McKalip.
