Entry Description
Vigo County—At 8:08 a.m. today, Indiana State Police troopers responded to the Gibault Children’s Services located at 6401 South US 41, Terre Haute for a reported walk-away. The walk-away was a 12-year-old female last seen traveling on foot southwest from the facility.
At 8:27 a.m., Indiana State Police received a report from residents in nearby Richland Manor Subdivision that a young female was walking through the neighborhood looking in vehicles. After checking vehicles at 338 Manor Drive, the female walked to the rear of the residence near the swimming pool where she was confronted by the homeowners. The homeowners conversed with the female until the arrival of ISP Senior Troopers Jason Schoffstall and Joe Rutledge. The female was taken into custody and transported to the Vigo County Juvenile Center for Deliquency-Runaway. Her exact intentions for checking the vehicles was not known and no articles were found missing.
Assisting the troopers was Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputy Lieutenant Brian DeHart.
Juvenile walk-aways from the Gibault Facility are not uncommon. The Indiana State Police urge residents in the area to not leave vehicles or homes unlocked.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. |
