Perry County:  Yesterday at approximately 12:41 p.m. EDT Trooper Mark Lehmkuhler was dispatched to I-64 mile post 79 eastbound in reference to a one vehicle crash.

Preliminary information reveals that a teal blue 2010 Nissan was traveling eastbound on I-64 at the 79 mile marker.   The Nissan had passed several vehicles at a high rate of speed.  After passing the vehicles the driver, Joshua R. Tomlin, 32, Granite City, IL lost control and left the roadway.  After leaving the roadway the vehicle traveled up the embankment and hit the overpass for SR 37.  After hitting the overpass Tomlin, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the car.  The car rolled down the embankment and came to rest on top of Tomlin and then caught fire.

Tomlin was pronounced dead at the scene.

The eastbound lanes of I-64 were closed for approximately 1.5 hours while emergency crews processed and cleaned up the scene.
