Johnson County- Monday evening, July 2, at 5:05 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a four vehicle crash on I-65 NB at the 90 mm ( SR 44) that sent three individuals to Methodist hospital.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Kristopher Housley, 18, of Indianapolis, was operating a 2007 Nissan Quest north bound I-65 at the 90mm. The traffic in that area was slowed or stopped due to two other working crashes further NB on I-65 at the 95 and 96 mm.

According to investigators and witness statements, John Livingstone, 44, of Sarina Ontario, operating a 2011 Peterbuilt semi-tractor trailer, was NB and failed to negotiate the slower traffic. Livingstone’s semi struck the rear of the Quest and drove it into the rear of a 2012 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer being operated by Brian Stafford, 31, of Augusta, MI. Stafford’s semi was shoved into the rear of a 2005 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer being operated by Michael Willems, 62, of Buna, TX.

Kristopher Housley and his front seat passenger, Bettie Housley, 50, of Indianapolis, were transported by Lifeline to Methodist Hospital. Kristopher reportedly had head and upper torso injuries. Bettie suffered lower extremity injuries.

Willems was transported to Methodist by ambulance after suffering a medical condition after the crash.

I-65 NB traffic was directed off at the SR 44 exit, across SR 44, and back onto I-65 NB to go around the crash. The NB lanes were closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared.
