Entry Description
Bartholomew County: This morning at approximately 4:00 a.m. Trooper Matt Simmons responded to a call of a suspicious person with an injury at the Circle K convenience store at U.S. 31 and CR 650N in Taylorsville. Upon his arrival, Tpr. Simmons met the suspect who had his hand wrapped in a bloody towel and inquired how he had received the injury. The suspect said he had cut it on a fan in an air conditioning unit. Tpr. Simmons asked the man for his name and the individual identified himself as Trevor Meyers and gave a date of birth of December 11 but couldn’t give Tpr. Simmons what year he was born only telling him he was 35 years of age. Tpr. Simmons located an Indiana ID card on the man identifying him as 33 year old Brian E. McKinney of Elizabethtown, IN however the individual denied being McKinney. Tpr. Simmons’ investigation revealed McKinney was wanted on two active warrants out of Bartholomew County for Probation Violation and one out of Jennings County for Possession of Narcotic Equipment. Though the suspect continued to deny his name was McKinney, Tpr. Simmons not only had photo identification indentifying him as McKinney, Tpr. Simmons recognized him from contact he’d had with McKinney in the past. McKinney was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance for treatment to the injury to his hand. After medical treatment he will be transported to Bartholomew County Jail on the three outstanding warrants and Tpr. Simmons will also be charging him with False Informing and Obstruction of Justice.
Tpr. Simmons was assisted by Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputies and Edinburgh Police Department.
Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. |
