Gibson County – Friday afternoon, July 27, at approximately 12:45, Indiana State Police arrested Brittany R. Bauman, 24, of Mt. Vernon, in connection to the April 25th hit and run crash that seriously injured Aaron Henry, 23, of Princeton.  Trooper Brandon Deig arrested Bauman after she turned herself in at the Gibson County Jail.

Shortly after midnight on April 25th, Bauman was traveling northbound on U.S. 41 south of Coalmine Road.  Aaron Henry, 23, of Princeton, and his 19-year-old friend, were riding their bicycles northbound on the shoulder of U.S. 41. For unknown reasons, Bauman’s vehicle left the roadway on the right side and struck Henry’s bicycle. He was immediately thrown from his bicycle and collided into the vehicle’s windshield. Bauman’s vehicle continued northbound dragging the bicycle until she allegedly stopped near Coalmine Road to remove it from underneath the vehicle.  Bauman continued north on U.S. 41 to Princeton and failed to contact police as required by law.  Henry was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. Later that morning, Bauman allegedly drove her damaged vehicle to an Evansville body shop to have it repaired.  She also reported to the Posey County Sheriff’s Department that she had struck a deer the night before. Nearly 21 hours later, Bauman contacted Indiana State Police regarding her involvement in the incident.

After reviewing the investigation conducted by Indiana State Police, Gibson County Prosecutor’s Office issued a felony warrant today for Bauman’s arrest.  She was released after posting a $750.00 cash bond.
