Entry Description
Northwest Indiana-Police departments across northwest Indiana joined forces today to ensure Vice President Joe Biden got to Chicago safely.
The Vice President (V.P.) was in northwest Indiana this past weekend and was headed to Chicago this morning to a downtown fund raiser. The local police departments were tasked with getting the V.P. from LaPorte County to the Illinois State line in time for his fund raiser.
This in itself takes many resources. Indiana State Police reached out to many of the local police departments to join forces with to accomplish this.
Lieutenant Jerry Williams, District Commander of the Lowell Post, stated, “I couldn’t have been more pleased with the response I received. Every police department we reached out to couldn’t do enough. The response was phenomenal.”
Agencies assisting: Long Beach Police, Michigan City Police, LaPorte County Sheriff Police, Hammond Police, Gary Police, Crown Point Police, Merrillville Police, Lake County Sheriff Police, Porter County Sheriff Police, Portage Police, Porter Police, Burns Harbor Police, Chesterton Police, Lake Station Police, Department of Natural Resources and Indiana Department of Transportation. |
