Entry Description Lake County- Late this morning, Tuesday, August 7th, Master Trooper Russell Hayes responded to a two vehicle crash on Interstate 80 at the 8 mile marker (this is just one mile west of Grant Street exit), which sent one driver to the hospital.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:51 am, Matthew S. Manoski, 32 from Crown Point, Indiana, was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer. He states he was looking down/adjusting his radio, when he looked back up; traffic had slowed/stopped when he rear ended a 2004 SPNR van, driven by John Patrick Nadolski, 48, from Portage, Indiana. The van, owned by LGS Plumbing Inc. out of Crown Point, Indiana was loaded with plumbing equipment. John Patrick Nadolski was transported to Methodist Hospital Gary with non-life-threatening injuries.
Manoski was cited for following too closely. He was not injured.
Assisting agencies: Department of Transportation Hoosier Helpers, Prompt Ambulance, and Samson Towing Service.
