Entry Description
Topeka, IN (LaGrange Co.)—The Indiana State Police investigated a two vehicle crash that occurred just outside of Topeka in which one driver was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital in critical condition.
According to Master Trooper James Sheffield, at approximately 1:50 pm a 1995 Pontiac driven by 52-year-old Robin M. Campbell of Topeka was stopped on County Road 700 S, eastbound, at the intersection with State Road 5. Campbell proceeded into the intersection and into the path of a southbound 2004 Suzuki driven by 40 year old Stacy M. Flaugh of rural Wolcottville.
As a result, Campbell’s vehicle was struck broadside in the driver’s door and she was pinned inside of her vehicle. She was extricated by the Topeka Fire Department and airlifted to a Fort Wayne Hospital with injuries to her head and chest. Both Campbell and Flaugh, who refused medical treatment, were reportedly wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
Sheffield was assisted at the scene by the LaGrange County Sheriff Department, LaGrange County EMS, and the Topeka Police and Fire Departments. |
