Entry Description
Jasper County-Early yesterday morning, at approximately 4:31 am, the Indiana State Police responded to a 911 call about a woman being injured/unresponsive on the shoulder of I-65 south bound at the 211 mile marker (this is four miles south of the Rensselaer exit).
Preliminary investigation revealed that a black female had sustained life threatening injuries. When the trooper arrived a male was attempting to do CPR on her. The occupants of the white 2002 Buick Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) were coming from Chicago headed to Indianapolis. It is unknown at this time where the female sustained her injuries.
One of the occupants, Nathan Huey-Dingle, 30 of Chicago, was arrested and taken to Jasper County Jail for an outstanding warrant.
The female was airlifted to Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. The female has been identified as Rachael Savanna Woods, 20 of South Bend, Indiana. She died yesterday, Thursday, September 13th, from her injuries. Family has been notified.
This is an on-going investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. |
