Madison Co., IN- Tuesday, November 13th, at 9:56 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a four vehicle crash on I-69 at the 218.2 mm, approximately ½ mile south of the SR 38 exit that injured an Anderson man.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Bruce Haidle, 57, of Anderson was driving a 1998 International semi-tractor pulling two box trailers in the left lane of NB I-69 at the 218.2 mm. Both NB lanes were slow due to construction and traffic being diverted to the left lane.

According to the investigating officer, Trooper Nick Campbell, Haidle failed to negotiate the slowed traffic and ran into the rear of a passenger car which was shoved into the median. Haidle’s vehicle then struck the rear of a semi-tanker truck which jack-knifed and struck the rear of another passenger car. The jack-knifed semi ruptured a saddle tank and spilled diesel fuel on the interstate.

Haidle was transported to St. John’s Hospital with complaint of pain, cuts and bruises. The occupants of the other vehicles were not injured.

North bound I-69 was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared.

Haidle was issued a traffic ticket for speed too fast to avoid collision.
