Indianapolis, IN- Wednesday morning, November 28th, at 2:32 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a four vehicle crash on SB I-465 at the 48 mm (between Brookville Rd. and I-74/Southeastern Exit) in a construction zone that sent three people to local hospitals.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Indiana Department of Transportation workers were performing construction maintenance on SB I-465 at the 48 mm and had the right two lanes closed. David Ketchem, 40, of Ohio, was operating a 2004 International semi-tractor trailer in the second closed lane and failed to move over. The semi-tractor trailer struck the rear of an INDOT dump truck which struck a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck. The semi-tractor trailer continued south and struck an INDOT trailer hauling lighting equipment.

During the crash, the semi-tractors saddle tank was compromised and resulted in a diesel fuel spill. The Indianapolis Fire Department Haz-Mat team is on the scene.

Ketchem was transported to Methodist Hospital with a reported non-life threatening leg injury. INDOT workers, Mark Cleary, 53, and Terry Starks, 58, both of Indianapolis, were transported to St. Francis Hospital for complaint of pain. Both workers were in trucks that were struck by the semi-tractor trailer.

The crash is still under investigation; however troopers do not suspect alcoholic beverages as a contributing factor.

I-465 SB traffic is being detoured onto Brookville Road. Brookville Road traffic is not being allowed to enter SB 465.
