Entry Description
Earlier this afternoon, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to an address on West Lake Shore Drive regarding a violent domestic situation, where the suspect Jeff A. Hopson, 29 of Indianapolis was allegedly destroying property. Upon IMPD's arrival, Hopson fled the scene. At approximately 3:29 pm, Hopson allegedly carjacked a Silver 1997 Buick, stabbed the driver and stole approximately $40 from the victim. The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds.
At approximately 3:50 pm, the Mooresville Police Department dispatched an erratic Silver Buick driving on SR 67. At approximately 3:55 pm, the Silver Buick was reported as traveling southbound in the northbound lanes from Observatory road in Morgan County.
Moments later, as the Buick was driving in the wrong lanes, it struck a northbound 2006 International straight truck, driven by Joshua Colby, 29, of Indianapolis, tearing off its rear axle.
Colby was not injured.
That impact spun the Buick into the path of a 2006 White Chevrolet van driven by a Paul Sharp, 48 of Indianapolis. The van struck the Buick and Hopson was ejected, striking his head on the passenger side windshield support of the van. Hopson's injuries resulted in his death.
Sharp, the driver of the van was Life-Lined to Indianapolis where he is considered to be in stable condition from injuries to his legs, shoulder, and head. |
