STATEHOUSE (Feb. 1, 2013) – State Sen. Scott Schneider (R-Indianapolis) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:
• Kyle Lockhart, from Indianapolis, attends Belzer Middle School.
• Meredith Mannix, from Indianapolis, attends Park Tudor School.
• Kennedy Matz, from Carmel, attends Carmel High School.
• Keller Mellowitz, from Indianapolis, attends Northview Middle School.
• Max Montgomery, from Indianapolis, attends St. Joan of Arc School.
• Caroline Tucker, from Indianapolis, attends Park Tudor School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“Spending the day at the Statehouse is an exciting opportunity for students,” Schneider said. “As Senate pages, students have the opportunity to witness debate and watch firsthand how the legislative process works. I encourage all students who are interested to apply.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
