Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2013) — State Sen. Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) recently welcomed the following local students to the Indiana Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
- Taylor Murphy, from Kokomo, attends Western High School.
- Alyssa Irwin, from Arcadia, attends Sheridan Middle School.
- Amanda Irwin, from Arcadia, attends Sheridan Middle School.
- Joanna Irwin, from Arcadia, attends Hamilton Heights High School.
- Eli Schantz, from Westfield, attends Westfield Middle School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“As always, I am eager to have local students visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Buck said. “I encourage others to come to the Capitol and observe how laws are enacted. The hands-on experience helps bring their textbooks to life.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
