[s42] Sen. Leising Welcomes Shelbyville Student to Statehouse as Page

Entry Description

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 8, 2013) – State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) welcomed Cody Westermann, a Waldron High School student from Shelbyville, to the Statehouse as a Senate page in January.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.

“I am always happy to have students from our district visit the Statehouse,” Leising said. “It’s the perfect opportunity for them to learn the ins and outs of the state legislative process. There’s still plenty of time for more students to register.”

Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
