Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 4, 2013) – State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
- Levi Poad, from Lafayette, attends Wea Ridge Middle School.
- A.J. Falk, from West Lafayette, attends Klondike Middle School.
- Eleanor Sammons, from Lafayette, attends Battle Ground Middle School.
- Ross Reeder, from Lafayette, attends West Lafayette High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“I’m thrilled to have students from my district come visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Alting said. “I encourage others to come spend a day at the Capitol. The hands-on experience helps bring their textbooks to life.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
