Entry Description

A sense of session

The beginning of session brings with it a sense of what the next two years may have in store. The Speaker of the House, Brian Bosma, and the Minority Leader, Scott Pelath, have both given their speeches highlighting what they hope this session will be, and in many ways they overlapped. Speaker Bosma delivered his speech in November where he spoke of a bipartisan approach to Indiana’s future and the need for Hoosiers to come together in these turbulent times.

During my service in the military, I met drastically different people from all over the world. I firmly believe that the more we can learn from one another the more we can help work together to find the best route for our future. Now, this does not mean comprising our integrity or going back on things that we believe to be true. I mean that we all have different perspectives to give, and those perspectives are such a key aspect to what makes our country and our state so unique.

When I left the military I set out as a small business owner, and I found ways to bring varying people with varying ideas together to build a business. It is my desire to bring the lessons that I have learned throughout the years to the Statehouse and apply it in my day to day work.

I have already met with many constituents who have traveled up from our community to visit the Capital and discuss their issues with me. I want to hear from our community and find ways that we can build up Indiana together. If you have received my legislative survey in the mail I urge you to fill it out and return it to me so that I can continue to carry your voice to the Statehouse.

It is my job to represent our community accurately, and while some of us may not always agree on issues, I will always be eager to hear where you stand. Both of the House Caucus Leaders have stressed the need for a civil bipartisan approach to our General Assembly, and I hope that we can have thorough respectful debates on crucial legislation.

If I can ever be of assistance please contact me at H74@IN.gov or (800)382-9841. If you are a constituent of District 74 and have not yet mailed in a survey, you can fill out my legislative survey online by visiting: www.in.gov/surveytool/public/survey.php?name=h74_L13_ARNOLD

I look forward to hearing from you.
