Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 11, 2013) – State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) today presented resolutions on the Senate floor to Lafayette Central Catholic’s baseball and football teams, recognizing their accomplishments both as state champions and successful student athletes.
Senate Concurrent Resolutions 22 and 23 were presented to the coaches and players of both teams to distinguish the players’ hard work and dedication.
“I am very proud of both teams’ success on the field, but more importantly their accomplishments in the classroom,” Alting said. “Central Catholic’s student athletes have an average GPA of 3.5, a 100 percent graduation rate and they plan to pursue some sort of higher education. Despite their success in sports, they never lost sight of the importance of academics.”
Alting also recognized football coach Kevin O’Shea and baseball coach Tim Bordenet for their outstanding leadership and winning a combined eight state titles in the last four years.
The teams were also recognized today in the House of Representatives.
