Entry Description
A Battle of the Bulge demonstration at Fort Harrison State Park this Saturday, Jan. 5, will highlight military tactics used by both American and German forces during World War II.
The 2 p.m. demonstration is sponsored by the Museum of 20th Century Warfare, park staff, and the Battle of the Bulge Veterans Association.
Actual Battle of the Bulge veterans will be on hand at the Battle of The Bulge Display in Building 701, and a General Patton re-enactor will be in the field during the demonstration.
The demonstration will be held outside regardless of weather. Visitors should dress accordingly.
Demonstration participants are unpaid hobbyists who wear authentic or reproduction uniforms and use WWII-era equipment and weapons to drill, exercise and simulate combat situations.
The demonstration is part of the ongoing Battle of the Bulge exhibit at the park. The exhibit is open in Building 701 each weekend until Jan. 26. Battle of the Bulge lectures are held in the visitors center each Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. through the end of the exhibit.
The demonstration is free after the standard entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle. Fort Harrison State Park is at the corner of 59th Street and Post Road in Lawrence, just outside Indianapolis.
