Operation Indy Commute
I-69

FISHERS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will host an open house for the Operation Indy Commute – I-69 project, which seeks to strategically improve traffic flow on I-69 between the I-465 and the 116^th Street/State Road 37 interchanges.  Project team members will be available to answer questions, and a formal presentation will outline the project schedule—including one temporary ramp closure to expect during the 2013 construction season.

Businesses and commuters can learn about the ongoing and planned improvements on Monday, February 25, at the Fishers Train Station, located at 11601 Municipal Drive.  INDOT will host an informal open house from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.  The formal project presentation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will include details about temporarily closing the southbound I-69 exit ramp to 116^th Street. 

Construction on the northbound side of the Exit 205 interchange started last spring.  Milestone Contractors, the state’s contractor for the $18 million interchange improvement project, is expected to complete the northbound improvements this spring and finish southbound work by the end of 2013.

A second contract, which INDOT expects to award soon, will add an additional travel lane to southbound I-69 between 116^th Street and I-465 and will add northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes to connect interchange ramps at 116^th Street, 96^th Street and 82^nd Street.  This contract will run concurrently and will be coordinated with the interchange contract and is also expected to be complete by the end of 2013.
