Entry Description
Yesterday, a saturation patrol conducted by troopers working from the Indiana State Police Peru Post resulted in the arrests of six people to face a total of 13 criminal charges.
From 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., seven troopers conducted roving saturation patrols on U.S. 31 in Howard, Tipton, and Miami Counties. While enforcing Indiana’s traffic laws, officers observed for behavior that would indicate the transportation, use, and possession of illegal narcotics. The trooper’s efforts resulted in six people being arrested on two felony and 11 misdemeanor charges. Included in that total is a Russiaville, IN, man who was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was stopped after a trooper allegedly observed him disregard a stop sign.
“It’s no secret that illegal narcotics are transported by vehicles,” stated Trooper Luke Bowyer. “Our goal is to catch those transporting illegal drugs before they reach and poison our communities”
