Entry Description STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2013) – State Sen. Michael Crider (R-Greenfield) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse as Senate pages:
• Leah Jacobs, from Shirley, attends Eastern Hancock High School.
• Bailey Kamp, New Palestine, attends New Palestine High School.
• Jamie Mittman, from New Palestine, attends New Palestine High School.
• Maxwell Nugent, from Fortville, attends Mt. Vernon Eighth Grade Academy.
• Abby Poole, from New Palestine, attends New Palestine High School.
• Dan Stevens, from Fishers, attends Fishers High School.
• Morgan Stevens, from Fishers, attends Riverside Junior High School.
• Anna Swenson, from Indianapolis, attends Stonybrook Middle School.
• Will Welch, from Indianapolis, attends Warren Central High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“The Senate page program is a hands-on experience,” Crider said. “When students spend the day here, they get to learn about the legislative process by witnessing it in person. When it is time to go home, our pages have had an experience they likely will remember for years to come. I encourage all students to apply, since it’s always a pleasure meeting students from the district.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
