Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 7, 2013) — “With the controversy regarding
drone usage growing in our nation, I will continue working hard to protect
Hoosiers’ privacy rights. I’ve been studying the drone issue since June, and
more information is surfacing daily on the availability of these small aircraft
within our country and abroad.
“Our rights are guaranteed to us
in our Constitution, but it is up to us to protect those rights. That’s why
I’ve authored Senate Resolution 27, which calls for the General Assembly to
create a study committee to research and report on drone uses and abilities. A
bipartisan look at this topic will provide legislators and residents with
invaluable insight about the impact of drones for our state, allowing us to
better determine whether domestic use of these unmanned aerial vehicles
threatens our rights.
“Although I was the first Indiana
legislator to focus on this issue, I’m pleased several of my Senate colleagues
have approached me to sign onto this legislation. The seriousness of drone
usage has become more evident.”
