Jean Lushin receives Lifetime Achievement Award
STATEHOUSE – State Representative Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) is pleased to announce that the Honorable Jean Paul Lushin has been awarded the Indiana Township Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award, the first of its kind, was created by resolution and named in Lushin's honor. The “Jean Paul Lushin Lifetime Achievement Award” was presented to Lushin in recognition of his extraordinary level of accomplishment and substantial list of achievements.
“Democrats and Republicans alike admire the work of Jean,” Rep. Karickhoff said. “His valuable contributions to our system of township government and continued community service have made him an integral part of Howard County, and we’re lucky to have someone with his passion and fortitude.”
As a lifelong Howard County resident, Lushin’s life work has been devoted to community service. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he was a national staff representative for the AFL-CIO. Lushin has also worked with the National Council on Crime and Delinquency, the United Way and the Christmas program Goodfellows.
Upon receiving his award, Lushin said that it has been “an incredibly journey … [which] is more important than the prize.”
The Indiana Township Association, Inc. is a nonprofit, statewide organization created to unite and support the Indiana Trustees and Assessors. Its mission is to “secure for township officers and office holders full recognition and enjoyment of their rights to administer their responsibilities in a just and professional manner; to secure the tools necessary for them to fulfill their obligations as public servants; and to strengthen and extend our form of Township government in such a way as to provide citizens the services to which they are entitled.”
