STATEHOUSE (March 15, 2013) – State Sen. Sue Landske (R-Cedar Lake) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Nicole Pelc, from St.John, attends Lake Central High School.
• Kevin Holechko, from Dyer, attends Kahler Middle School.
• Jered Pawlak, from Crown Point, attends Clark Middle School.
• Robert Pawlak, from Crown Point, attends Lake Central High School.
• Stephanie Dijak, from Crown Point, attends Clark Middle School.
• Matthew Grill, from Dyer, attends Kahler Middle School.
• Caleb Zapata, from Dyer, attends Kahler Middle School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“As always, I am eager to have local students visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Landske said. “I encourage others to come to the Capitol and observe how laws are enacted. The hands-on experience helps bring their textbooks to life.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
