Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 15, 2013) – State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Kiersten Boyer, from Lafayette, attends Faith Christian School.
• Justinie Crowell, from Lafayette, attends McCutcheon High School.
• Shelby Sigman, from West Lafayette, attends Benton Central Jr.-Sr. High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“It’s wonderful for students to come visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Alting said. “I am always pleased to have students from the district page for a day in the Capitol. It’s a great way for them to learn about State government.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
