Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (March 19, 2013) – State Sen. Johnny Nugent (R-Lawrenceburg) recently welcomed the following students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:
• Jasmine Lawrence, from Lawrenceburg, attends Sunman-Dearborn Middle School.
• Beth Markland, from Rising Sun, attends Rising Sun High School.
• Kyle Randall, from Aurora, attends South Dearborn High School.
• Grant Novinger, from Milan, attends St. Mary’s Catholic Home School.
• Koen Novinger, from Milan, attends St. Mary’s Catholic Home School.
• Amy Burbrink, from North Vernon, attends Jennings County High School.
Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.
“As always, I am eager to have students from the district visit the Statehouse and learn about the legislative process,” Nugent said. “It’s a hands-on approach to teaching students about state government. I encourage others to come to the Statehouse to see the General Assembly in action.”
Students in grades six through 12 can participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 4.
