Entry Description

Indianapolis, IN- An Indianapolis trooper working a crash on I-465 had his police vehicle struck by a vehicle that fled the scene then crashed again.

Yesterday evening, March 24th, at 5:25 p.m., Indiana State Police Master Trooper Patrick Etter was working a two vehicle crash on I-465 SB at the 50.5 mm. Etter had his emergency lights activated on his marked state police commission and was parked on the right emergency shoulder. Etter reported that moderate snow was falling and that the roads were snow covered and hazardous.

While completing paperwork, Etters’s police vehicle was struck by a 1996 Ford Thunderbird that fled the scene. Etter called in a description of the vehicle and female driver to other officers before attempting to catch the fleeing vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle on SB I-65 at the 105 mm facing NB after the vehicle crashed a second time. The driver, Alice K. Kocher, 25, of Louisville, KY was arrested and transported to the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center without incident. Investigators stated Kocher fled the scene after she struck Etters police car because she didn’t have insurance on the vehicle.

Trooper Etter had pain in his neck and back after the crash; however he did complete his shift.
