[ISP] Semis Crash Sending Two to Hospital
Start Date: 3/31/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 3/31/2013End Time: 11:59 PM
Entry Description

Lake County-Yesterday at approximately 7:00 p.m. on I-65 southbound near the 239 mile marker (one mile south of State Road 2 exit at the 240 mm), Indiana State Police along with Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two semi crash that sent both drivers to the hospital.

Trooper Dennis Simcoe and Probationary Trooper Brandon Bohling of the Lowell State Police Post have advised that a white 2005 Freightliner driven by Tolla Ayana Burayou, 31 years old from Minneapolis, MN was southbound on I-65 near the 239 mm in the right lane. A black unknown year Kenworth driven by Jennifer M. Buchholz, 36 years old, from Brownsville, WI was also southbound in the right lane and for an unknown reason ran into the back of the Freightliner. The Freightliner and its trailer overturned onto the passenger side and traveled off the roadway onto the outer shoulder. The Kenworth stayed upright and also traveled onto the outer shoulder where it came to rest. Both drivers were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point, IN with non life threatening injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts which probably lessened the severity of the injuries. The investigation is continuing.

Assisting at the scene was the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. No citations have been issued at this time.
