[DNR] Spring Mill SP hosts a broomstick lace workshop, Jan. 30
Start Date: 1/30/2014Start Time: 10:30 AM
End Date: 1/30/2014
Entry Description
Spring Mill State Park will teach the art of making broomstick lace during a Jan. 30 workshop.

Also known as jiffy lace or peacock lace, broomstick lace is a method of crochet that has been done since the 1800s using a crochet hook and another instrument such as a large knitting needle or dowel. Traditionally, a broomstick was used, hence the name. The fabric created is soft yet stable, and well-suited for clothing and blankets.

The workshop begins at 10:30 a.m. in the Spring Mill Inn’s Elm Room. All supplies are included with enough yarn to make a lap Afghan. Lunch will also be provided at the inn’s Millstone dining room.

Only 15 spots are available, and advance registration is required by Jan. 27 to the Spring Mill Inn at (812) 849-4081.

The cost is $35 per person.
