[ISP] Putnamville Trooper Recognized for Years of Service
Start Date: 2/4/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/4/2014
Entry Description
Putnamville—At a Putnamville District post meeting held on January 29, the Indiana State Police recognized one of their own for 25 years of service to the department.

Master Trooper John D. Goldner was presented a certificate of achievement and a 25 years of service medallion which will adorn his uniform signifying his tenure. Goldner was given the award by Putnamville District Commander Lieutenant Dan Jones.

Originally hired as a civilian Motor Carrier Inspection Officer in June 1988, Goldner served in this capacity until his appointment to the 47th ISP Recruit School in June of 1989. After graduation from the ISP academy, Goldner was assigned to the former Terre Haute Post. During his time with the ISP, Goldner has served as a Motor Carrier Inspector, Vehicle Theft Officer, Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer (trooper), District School Bus Safety Officer, District Meth Suppression Officer, Drug Enforcement Officer (undercover), Detective, and now as a road trooper patrolling Parke and Vermillion counties. Goldner is the recipient of two ISP Life Saving Awards and many letters of commendation.

A Vermillion County native, Goldner is a South Vermillion High School graduate, veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a 1984 graduate of the Indiana Basic Law Enforcement Academy, as Goldner served as Clinton City Police Officer from 1983 until 1988. The Goldner family is synonymous with law enforcement as John’s father served 34 years with the Indiana State Police, a brother served in the state of Florida as law enforcement officer for many years, and one of his sons is now serving as a patrolman with the Terre Haute Police Department.

Goldner is married with five children, the youngest attending South Vermillion High School. His wife is a third grade teacher within the South Vermillion School Corporation and the family resides in Fairview Park, Vermillion County.
