[ISP] Stolen Firearms Results in Arrest of Vermillion Co. Man
Start Date: 2/7/2014Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 2/7/2014
Entry Description
Vermillion County-Yesterday evening February 6th, Indiana State Police Detectives from the Putnamville Post arrested a rural Vermillion County man in connection with a firearm reported stolen in July of 2013.

Arrested: Drew M. Lubovich, age 22, of Clinton, IN.

Charge: Possession of a Stolen Property (felony)
Incarcerated in the Vermillion County Jail

Yesterday afternoon and into the early evening hours, Indiana State Police and Vermillion County Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at the Drew M. Lubovich home located at 889 East State Road 163, Clinton. The search was in relation to an ongoing investigation into the July 2013 home burglary of a former Vermillion County Sheriff’s reserve deputy. The home was located on Washington Street in Fairview and several firearms were taken.

During a vehicle crash investigation on February 5th of this year, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputy Chad Hennis recovered a Taurus 9 millimeter handgun reported stolen from the July 2013 Fairview burglary. Information gleaned at the crash site, along with other investigative information gathered during the ongoing investigation, led Indiana State Police and the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office to a search of the Lubovich home.

At the home, officers located approximately 30 grams of suspected marijuana and related paraphernalia. However, no other stolen items related to the aforementioned burglary were located. Additional charges may be levied in coming days in relation to the seized contraband.

Indiana State Police detectives and sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the July 2013 burglary and stolen firearms.

The case was investigated by ISP Detective Tony Guinn. Assisting were ISP Detectives First Sergeant Jeff Hearon, Don Anglin, and Chris Carter; ISP Trooper Mike Laney, Vermillion County Sheriff’s Deputies Chad Hennis and Mike Holtkamp, Indiana Conservation Officers, and Black Diamond Fire Department.
